A message from Tracey – OOSC Assistant Coordinator

Hi everyone,Just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you, missing the children and hoping that they are coping well; especially the children who are transitioning this year. I know it cannot be easy for them or you.

I’ve been occupying myself with gardening and decorating; welcoming the good weather as it gets me out of the house. You can’t decorate in the house when the sun is shining can you?

I have also been baking which is not really my forte but I found it impossible to get plain flour from any shops. My youngest daughter sent me a recipe for a flourless chocolate cake (also gluten free) using only 3 ingredients.

Four eggs

500g dark chocolate (you can use milk)

Eight tablespoons of unsalted butter

Pre-heat oven to 150° or gas mark two.

Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl for five minutes

Melt butter and chocolate together

Slowly fold chocolate and butter into the beaten eggs

Pour cake mix into a cake tin

Place cake tin into a pan of water for 20 minutes remove water and then bake for another five minutes at 150°/Gas mark two

It was easy to make and delicious.

I have really enjoyed watching videos of my grandchildren. Two of my grandchildren have been doing cosmic kids from youtube which tells a story using yoga poses for instance using poses which show animals or objects in the story. I laughed so much at one point where they were sitting cross legged in a pose and pretending to use their foot like a telephone. Hilarious. Great activity for story telling and exercise at the same time.

My other two grandchildren sent me a video of them doing a great art activity using items from the garden. This was done for my five year old grandson‘s home learning. You will need

Sticks

Stones or rocks

PVA glue

A piece of square wood, kitchen tile or canvas

Here is the finished result from my grandchildren, hopefully this will inspire you to create something similar.
