Shenley Youth & Community Trust (SYCT)
SYCT’s aim is to cater for the social, recreational, educational and welfare needs of the community and residents in the Shenley community of South Birmingham, enabling them to develop individually and collectively and improving their quality of life.
SYCT is responsible for the management of Shenley Community Hall (www.shenleycourthall.co.uk), a purpose built community centre in the heart of the local community and a flourishing base for a wide range of local community groups and activities.
We are looking to recruit new trustees to our Board who have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
Our Treasurer, Theo Van Beurden, is moving away from Shenley so we are looking to recruit a Treasurer who, supported by Theo over the next few months, will take on this role.
Children & Youth Work strategic lead
SYCT delivers Out of School Club services for over 90 children as well as youth work activities for local young people. We are looking to identify a trustee who has experience in and an understanding of the policy, strategic and regulative environment within which these services are delivered.
On average over 900 people per week use the services and activities on offer at Shenley Court Hall. We are therefore interested in identifying and recruiting trustees who themselves are users of SCH and can offer a wider user perspective.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people living or working in Shenley and adjacent communities who are interested and have the skills, knowledge and/or experience required. However, if you live locally and have other skills which you think may be useful please do contact us. Please note that the Board meets quarterly and that trustees are volunteers but receive expenses.
